As a mom and a CEO of an organic food company, I have always believed fundamentally in the consumer's right to know what's in the food they eat. Late July has been guided by this belief since our founding almost 10 years ago and last month we proudly made a $25,000 donation to the California Right to Know Initiative!
The California Right to Know Initiative is working to bring awareness to the importance of a yes vote on Proposition 37 in the upcoming November California election. Prop 37 or the California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act would require food producers to label food sold in retail outlets if it contains genetically engineered ingredients.
I believe that success in California and the passing of this law would create ripples of positive change throughout the United States and I was proud to see the Late July logo next to the many amazing organic brands also supporting Prop 37.
We're in the home stretch, so if GMO labeling is important to you, be a force for change and help the effort! To learn more about GMOs, the campaign effort and to donate please visit the CA Right to know website at http://www.carighttoknow.org/.
